UNCOVER CONCEPTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY
PROJECT / 2015
Uncover is a conceptual photography series proposed for i-D magazine that depicts the subculture of nudism. Nudism is a lifestyle in harmony with nature and a cultural and political movement that practices and defends social nudity. However, nudity isn’t generally accepted by the public, social and cultural assumptions often define the naked body as shameful, immoral, sexuality and erotic.

The concept behind these photographs is to question human — why are we so afraid of uncovering naked body? With the play of shadows as a depicting the misperception of shame, disgrace or sexuality from the society as well as the emotion and feelings behind the nudists. The settings of the photographs are in forest environment to showcase their harmonious lifestyle with nature.

This project aims to change the misperceptions towards the subculture of nudism, get more people to understand the nature and beliefs of this subculture, and to send out the message of nudity isn’t sexuality or shame.
